Dr. Leah Lamale-Smith is an Associate Professor at the University of California, San Diego. She completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at University of Colorado School of Medicine and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Lamale-Smith earned her medical degree from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.

Mishella is a Clinical Ultrasound Educator specializing in high-risk obstetrics and fetal echocardiography at Scripps Health, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in San Diego, California. She has more than 16 years of experience in academic and community health practices, serving as a clinical instructor and coordinator, faculty lecturer, and clinical ultrasound educator for Departments of Radiology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, and Maternal-fetal Medicine teaching ultrasound students, sonographers, residents, fellows, and faculty. Mishella is a member of various societies, serving to ensure she gets the highest quality of ultrasound education to teach others. She is an active member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), currently serving as Vice-Chair for the Obstetrics Community of Practice and Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Mishella serves on the Education, Conference, and Sonographer Committees for the Fetal Heart Society. She is also a member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS).

Lorraine Toner, MD, MS (Moderator)

Lorraine E.Toner, MD, MS is the Director of Labor and Delivery and Patient Safety, as well as a Maternal Fetal Medicine Attending at NYCHHC Lincoln Hospital and Harlem Hospitals. She received BS and MS degrees in Biochemistry from Plattsburgh State University and New York University, respectfully, and received her MD from St. George's University School of Medicine. Dr. Toner completed her post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Danbury Hospital in CT, followed by two fellowships; OBGYN Simulation at New York University and Maternal Fetal Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Toner's interests include patient safety and quality improvement, and she is a former fellow member of the SMFM Patient Safety Committee as well as the current Secretary for the OB Ultrasound Community for the American Institute for Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM). Her passion for education, simulation, and patient safety drives Dr. Toner's career goals for health equity and excellent obstetric outcomes for all patients.
